GCC Forensics Exhibition and Conference 2018 will host a Youth Stream in partnership with Khalifa University of Science and Technology and under the sponsorship of Integrated Gulf Biosystems.

As a part of the programme, emerging researchers and young forensic DNA specialists will be able to present to an audience of industry delegates, academics and sponsors. It will provide a platform for a new generation of scientists to engage with the forensic sector and assist in reaching the objective of establishing long term outcomes for the Conference.

Integrated Gulf BiosystemsYouth Stream sponsor Integrated Gulf Biosystems will offer two finalists the opportunity to undertake 1 week unpaid internship (Internship winners must present research within Forensic DNA or genomics due to the nature of the sponsor’s specialism).

Dr. Habiba Alsafar, Director of Khalifa University Center for Biotechnology, Chair of the Youth Stream commented on the importance of the knowledge partnership: "The youth component of the GCC Forensics Exhibition and Conference allows young and upcoming minds to mingle with international experts. It provides a forum for the youth to build opinions and develop points of views on matters pertinent to forensic science and criminology."

Selection criteria:

  • Excellence of research
  • Appropriate use of the scientific method
  • Relevance to the conference theme
  • Adhering to abstract guidelines
  • Possibility of real life implementation of research post conference by regional police forces
  • Reliance on actual case studies
  • Completeness of information, methods and conclusions
  • Youth Stream presenters must be 30 years old or younger
  • Open to students or recent graduates at an undergraduate level or above
